About Elizabeth's Books

Long ago and far away, a 7-year-old discovered that reading Ramona Quimby books was far more enjoyable than hanging out with children her own age.

While I have more or less learned how to hang out with adults, my favorite hobby is still reading. In 2009, I set out to read 100 books, mostly just to see if I could. In 2010, I still plan to read 100 books, but this time, I decided to blog about what I was reading.

Some of this stems from people asking me what a good beach book is, or what they should buy for their 15-year-old niece. But it's also because I read a lot of the adult equivalent of Sweet Valley High along with an assortment of non-fiction, classics, mysteries and science fiction. This blog is for people who feel put-off by highbrow book reviews. I think of it as the guide for the woman who is trying to decide whether to buy Emily Giffin or Sophie Kinsella for her vacation, or for the health care professional deciding whether to read Jerome Groopman or Atul Gawande, or for the parent deciding whether to buy Christopher Pike or Neil Gaiman for their teenager.

So comment, recommend and enjoy!
